Caves
Belize is best described by geologists as Swiss cheese.
Endless miles of caves have been mapped and explored by cavers under the observation of the Institute of Archeology (IOA) and we boast one of the longest cave systems in Central America.
Some caves have restrictions as to the number of visitors, while others are managed by private landowners who dictate the use of the cave.
Over the years, River Rat has been instrumental in assisting the IOA with cave exploration and documentation and thus holds special permits to visit limited sites.

NOTE: DO NOT EXPLORE CAVES WITHOUT A GUIDE.
