About Us

Our team of professionals bring with them over 15 years of experience in Adventure Tourism.  Our skills range from leading mild family-oriented expeditions to rigorous adventure sports. 

The outdoors is our office, as well as our playground.

Our staff are licensed and certified instructors by the Belize Tourist Board.  At River Rat, our Team will help you to enhance your skills in jungle training, caving, archeology, canoeing, birding, and a list of many more fun and innovative tours.

At River Rat, our mission is to develop and deliver safe, responsible, and educational activities in the outdoors, while gaining a higher vision of appreciation of our environment. 

Gonzo is senior expeditions and logistics guide for all inland adventures. His vast experience as a local and international guide brings you a wealth of information.  His office is the outdoors, a cave, a river, waterfall, Maya site or some strange location where no phone reception is available. Gonzo is one of the very few adventure guides in Belize that has recognition by the Institute of Archeology and holds permits to selected caves like the world reknowned ATM.  In addition to the training needed for his Belize licensing and certification, Gonzo has been certified by the Killary Adventure Company in County Galway, Ireland.

Carlos is a specialized cave guide.  He has vast experience in caving and is certified in cave and wilderness rescue.  On the more remote and specialized caving expeditions, Carlos and Gonzo will be your guides.  They share the same office!

Selmo and Eddie are River Rat's all-around guides, taking you from sight seeing tours to Maya archeological sites to mild caving trips, river tubing, canoeing, bird watching, or even just a walk in the park to talk about plants, the birds and the beasts.  They'll happily give you a guided tour of the Belize Zoo.
